Dogs of Alcibiades in Victoria Park.

Postby Barryoneoff » Fri Jan 22, 2010 9:16 am

Has anyone got any photos of these dogs before they were vandalised? You can see them halfway down this page: http://www.barryoneoff.co.uk/html/victoria_park.html I just received the following E-mail concerning their restoration:
Hello there. I am working for a conservation company that has been selected to provide a quotation for the repair of the Dogs of Alcibiades. Until recently i was under the impression that the dogs were direct copies of that held in the British Museum, but I now see from you photograph that they are in fact not. I wonder if you might be able to provide me some more photographs of the Dogs pre-vandalism- so we can provide costs for an accurate repair. Regards. Alison Foster

Surely someone has some old photos somewhere. :-)

There is this one but I don't think it's any different from those on your page.

I remember distinctly snapping my Mum,on her old box Brownie, standing in front of one holding our little mongrel, when I was 5 yrs old. Gawd knows what happened to it. :-)
Ask yourself why, then post the answer.

Dipsy to post a photo you'll need a photohosting site such as photobucket. Once You've registered with the site select the photo you want to save, right click and click 'save as' then download it to your pc. Go to your photohost and upload it, once this is done it can be posted on here by choosing the link and pasting the link here. It sounds complicated but it's gets easy after using it a few times. :-)

If you haven't a photohost and would like to try photobucket here is the link.
