Nazi Death Camp Guard to go on Trial

Postby ladyDeWint » Thu Jul 29, 2010 12:07 pm

A former Nazi death camp guard now aged 90 is to stand trial charged with participating in the murder of 430,000 Jews.

Samuel Kunz was informed last week of the indictment citing participation in the murders at the Belzec death camp in Poland where he served as a guard from January 1942 to July 1943.

He is also charged with murder over 'personal excesses' in which he allegedly shot ten Jews in two incidents.

Wonder if he'll live long enough to finish the trial.

They need to be clear on their evidence. There was a case in Oz recently, where an elderly man had been accused of a murder of a young Jewish man in Hungary. The man concerned seemed to have evidence he wasn't there at the time. The Australian Minister in charge was hell-bent on sending this old chap to Hungary for examination and then, presumably, a trial. Fortunately, a court here ruled the Minister to be quite wrong. Obviously the Minister was zealously politically over-correct (Labour Party, of course).
