green cockneys apply themselves here:

Postby mutt&jeff » Tue Sep 22, 2009 9:07 pm

:uhm: hello I've been trying to find out what the plant in my garden is for two summers. No-one seems to know. It's really nice with purple flowers in the summer. but while I'm at work people come into my garden and break off the flowering heads to which I think the seeds are attached. So, I broke some off myself today - but what do I do with them? toast them and plant them next spring? ugh! I have no green fingers. I planted two trees a couple of years ago and instead of growing they shrunk! The plant is the tall one here click on to upsize: Reduced Image:

The seeds (seed pods) look like this and are about 3/4" long Reduced Image:

Here's hoping some cockney botanist can help! cheers me dears

No idea, but it looks like a wild flower. I can't see any reason to toast the seeds unless you are going to eat them. :? Just plant them as they are.

my first thought is that it's an African Lily [Agapanthus] which looks like this in bloom.
