Where is Health and Safety ?

I've added this section to the main one because not only does political correctness seem to have gone mad, but so do the beaurocrats at the department of Health and Safety! Let's hear about the ridiculous rules you've found lately.

Where is Health and Safety ?

They were promised a sparkling £70,000 playground - and were expecting the traditional children's climbing frames and swings.

But what they got looks more like a military cemetery, with one resident branding the minimalist play area a 'deathtrap'.
Sunderland Council has described the blocks as 'play features' at Diamond Hall Pocket Park in Millfield.

But local parents have had a hard time explaining the purpose of the seemingly random blocks to their disappointed children.

What a load of cobblers!
At least when they turfed over Middleton St. to make Middleton Green a couple of years ago they put a proper play area there. Big swinging tyre, slide, old fashioned log see-saw, spinning tub and a hanging slider. So there's no ecuse for that mob.

It would take a highly imaginative child to have fun here!

Our local parks have brilliant, safe play areas for kids and also, alongside an adult area with man-sized gym machines.
Ask yourself why, then post the answer.

The way it is going kids will not know how to cope with danger when they are faced with it.

When i worked in England i had a number of jobs including steeplejack, blacksmiths striker, roofing worker [tiles, slate and bitumen] and building maintenance, i was lowered on a bosun's chair down the side of gasometers, walked on scaffold boards suspended from cables inside Greenwich gasworks and stood on the edge of three storey buildings pulling bags of cement up by rope.
Health and safety wasn't even heard of then, now I'm all for it after the many accidents I've seen over the years.
one thing i should mention that while i was pulling the cement up, the rope went slack and i fell back onto the roof, i thought that if it came loose it could kill the bloke at the bottom i jumped up, looked over the edge and there was old Vinnie looking up at me covered from head to toe in cement, the rope had cut the bag in half. it took me two weeks to stop laughing every time i saw him.
