Unique East End history blog - help!

Postby thehowlingsea » Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:44 pm

Hi everyone. I've joined this forum because I've just started a very unique blog that I think many of you will be interested in and some of you may even be able to help me with ;)

I'm writing and releasing a song every week for a year all about characters and events from London's East End (circa. 1750-1900) I also accompany every song with a short video blog intro providing background info.
I'm into week 8 having already covered people like Eliza Marchpane, Isambard Kingdom Brunel, Two-Guns Cohen, and a trilogy of songs based on the 'Chink & The Child' short story by Thomas Burke but i need to fill 52 weeks so any suggestions would be fantastic

It can all be viewed here EDIT: I'm afraid it can't be viewed here because I no longer pay for bandwidth for freeloaders to show their work. Contact me for advertising rates!hope to hear from some of yo
PS I know the 'facts' maybe a little loose..

I checked out the Songs from the Howling Sea as presented by Ruaridh Anderson - on U-tube and with his songs on podcasts - through his website www.songsfromthehowlingsea.com His videos were fascinating and I liked his songs.+

It's not a question of forum rules, it's a question of people signing on here simply to promote their own website for free. I don't go round othern forums plugging my own site and I don't expect other people to do it to me. If you take the trouble to make regular contributions to the forum then fair enough, you can include a web address (hopefully returning that courtesy with a back link), but I'm afraid I get totally *weewee* off with people making one or two visits simply to promote their own website offering nothing in return.

Yes, I'm a misog. Tough titty! :-x

One other point; please consider copyright laws and read any forum (not just this one) rules and regulations before assuming you can use others material. Think about it.

Barry aren't you being a little harsh, it's not as if he is advertising something totally alien to this forum, in fact it's an interesting and relevant site to be linked to. This is only my opinion and so far I seem to be in the minority but Hey Ho it's not the first time and I'm sure it wont be the last. :sigh

Been watching this site for the last 3-4 weeks. Well built site and interesting subjects, with a presenter who seems quite personable and gently amusing. ( Just like Barry :-) ) Obviously a talented bloke, but I don't think his songs will stay in the Folk Music archives. Still you never know though!

Worth forgiving! :-)
Ask yourself why, then post the answer.
