New Member saying hello

Postby George NE25 » Wed Jul 28, 2010 10:00 pm

Just a brief introduction.

Not born in the East End but Essex. At the age of about three weeks I ended living on Millwall and later Poplar until we all moved out to Goodmayes when I was about 18. After an apprenticeship ship repairing it was off to sea and I am still there. Well I do get home every eight weeks. Home now is just outside Whitley Bay on the North East coast but I make the effort every leave to get down to see my family and have a wander around the east end.

At present I am away and in Curacao. Recently I have started to read up, from the internet, the history of the East End but mainly Poplar. Keeps me out of trouble and out of the Black and Blue. Thats not rhyming slang by the way. Its my local watering hole!

Well that me and I will have to be off.

Cheers all, George

Hi George :yoo: and welcome to the forum!!

I'm a Canadian who hangs out here. My dad was born and raised in Mile End and I came across this site while doing research on my family tree. I just never left!! :eeek: Hope you enjoy your stay!!!
I asked my Mom if I was a gifted child....She said "Well, we definitely wouldn't have paid for you!!"

Hello George, and welcome. I'm supposed to be the head warder but have been a bit lapse lately due to an alcohol induced lobotomy. Luckily Lady De Wint came out of rehab just before I was certified so was able to keep the inmates in order. Have fun here.

Welcome George. You will fit in quiet nicely with this bunch  Nice place to come and visit, and there certainly is a conglomeration of the "unusual" minds :o
