Postby cockneyoz » Wed Jul 21, 2010 4:52 pm

Here's another bloke id like to find out about, curly king. I used to go to school with a good friend of mine named Joe king [not joking], i found out later that his brother was curly king who had a gang around the same time as the Krays, the last time i heard, Joe had a stall on Aldgate high street and Curly had died. Anyone got any info on them? :?

Thank you for answering Marilyn, from what I've heard he was a bit of a stand-over man in opposition to the Krays, I'd like to find out more though.

I remember "curly" King when I was a teenager visiting the dicso at the Barn Club, Wilton Street, Knightsbridge aroung 1962. He was in charge of the door and was, I believe, a member of the Kray Gang who owned the club and casino above. He was a very tough small guy of big build. He had a nice personality and even though I was young he got on with me well & I liked him.
I recall reading a book on The Krays in which a photo of Curly King appears in a group. I heard he died in a gangland killing in the 70s and his body was never found.

Thanks for that french boy,and welcome to the forum. I didn't know curly too well but i was good friends with his brother Joe, I've tried to get in touch with him but King is a fairly common name, all i know is that he has a stall on Aldgate high st near petticoat lane, i don't even know if he still lives in Bow.
